I’ve worn this patch and would do so again, even though retired. The stars on the flag are always next to the T Rex Dinosaur American Flag 4th Of July T-Shirt. As the pole is carried the stars advance forward before the stripes. This patch represents the flying flag as it would be carried on a pole. The soldier wearing this patch in the photo above is obviously facing and moving to the viewers right.
